"I work so hard to help everyone, but at the end of the day, instead of feeling fulfilled and happy, I feel overwhelmed, frustrated and empty!"
I was life coaching a wonderful client whose constant giving to others is leaving her drained and exasperated.
Have you ever felt that way?
In reviewing her talents and strengths we found the key to her discontent. Her life purpose, her sincere desire to serve others, is actually driving her right into the Chicken Coop!
A driving force of her purpose in life is to serve. Her greatest joy comes from seeing peace and joy on the faces of those she serves. She doesn't want the limelight, she wants to be the wind beneath the wings of others as she drives them into the limelight.
In her zeal to serve she gives indiscriminately to anyone who asks, giving all she can without knowing if it's what really serves them.
As a result her greatest strength has become her greatest weakness. She throws all her energy, talents and resources at whatever comes along, like corn feed scattered to all the squawking people and circumstances that arise during her day.
She spends her days putting out other peoples' fires instead of using her talent to truly support people to shine. Her
talents lay scattered on the dirt, trampled, neglected, and lost amidst the hay of life. While the people she helps are not soaring in growth but continue to cluck out complaints.
Stuck in the Chicken coop, she's exhausted,
while they're unhappy and unchanged. The recipients of her kindness keep demanding more, while her unappreciated talents lie trampled in the dirt.
What can you learn from this woman's predicament so you can free yourself from frustration to live your life on purpose every day?
1. Know who you are and what your life purpose is. So you can focus your daily activities instead of indiscriminately throwing away your talents.
2. Know what you want and go after it. If you want to support others, fine. Support their life purpose but not their excuses.
3. Know how to get what you want. Design your daily activities to support your purpose and stick with what you were created to do.
Don't throw your talents away in a Chicken Coop.
