Our lives are a constant source of distraction and stimulation. We are always looking for something to entertain us on one level or another. When we look for spiritual fulfillment the situation is no different. We search for the thrilling, the amazing and the blissful. However, in order to commune with the divine, we must stop our searching for stimulus for a time and allow something unexpected to come in.

Eric always says, "want for nothing and gain everything." Other teachers have said, "In order for God to come in, the creature must get out". Both are essentially saying the same thing. When we get out of the way, we are allowing the Force, the Universe to speak to us and through us. When we are in this state of flow, we truly want for nothing. In fact, we must want for nothing before we can experience this connection.

We run around constantly looking for things that interest us. When was the last time we sat down and stopped? Stopped what? Stopped everything! Stopped looking, stopped listening, stopped searching, stopped thinking, stopped feeling. Want for nothing.

So often religious and spiritual people sit down and they pray to God, asking for things. "Save me from..." " I need..." "Help so and so" It's as if they feel they have everything figured out in their lives and that they just need a little extra help in order to accomplish something slightly out of reach. Now aside from the selfishness of these requests, it also ignores the fact that God already knows what you want. That being the case, do we really need to dictate our desires to it once again? What good will this do us?

Perhaps, The Force is speaking back but we aren't hearing it. Maybe God has something to tell us, instead of us always doing the demanding. Maybe.

Spiritual Masters have said for thousands of years that the answers that we seek are not to be found out in the world but that they lies within each of us. When we pray, we are putting our focus in a mode of externalization. We are looking for the answers elsewhere.

In meditation, we do just the opposite. We seek to listen to what the Universe is trying so desperately to tell us if we would only listen. We clear our minds of all the garbage and traffic and we allow something higher to speak to us. We find the divine within each of us and seek to become better connected with it each time we meditate. When we meditate, we set aside our ego, our petty grievances, our problems and our demands. We do our best to simply exist and experience the Universe without filters or expectations.

Just as the leaves on a tree do not go looking for the sun, so too must we simply let God come to us. We do not have to go looking through the Universe.

"God is right here, right now, brilliantly loud".

The leaves sit and wait and they accept what is given to them. When we meditate, we do the same with the Force. We sit and let prana come to us like sunlight falling on the leaves of a tree. The leaves are not anxious, they know they will be taken care of. They do not fight with the sun, telling it that they want something and it better be a certain way. They work in harmony with the Force. As we meditate, we raise our tonal and become more in harmony with the Force. As we do this we see that our lives improve all around us. The Force always seeks growth and progress.

Contemplate this before your meditations each day. Think about what God might be trying to say to you if you would only listen in the right way.

"Praying is talking at God, Meditating is listening." Eric Pepin
